LEG CRAMPS

The best reason to drink orange juice or eat bananas!

If you have ever had a Charley horse, or a tightening of the muscle in the calf foot or other part of the leg, you know how painful they can be!

I know, I've had them, it's a horrible feeling! They become more frequent with old age.

A few changes to your diet can help and actually stop these cramps from happening.

This also works with restless leg syndrome, which is a feeling of twitching in the legs or jumping as has been described. RLS(Restless leg syndrome) can be aggravating and very hard to control.

There are many products out on the market for pill for this syndrome, but a diet change can be a better way to go.

First of all foods rich in calcium, potassium, and magnesium are the way to go.

Foods rich in calcium are kale and other leafy dark greens, canned salmon with bones, and fortified orange juices

For Potassium, shoot for daily servings of avocados, potatoes, white beans, yogurt, tomatoes or tomato juice, cantaloupe, and bananas.

Magnesium, plenty of legumes, seafood, nuts, whole grains, leafy green vegetables and chocolate! Keep to dark chocolate, as it is better for your heart.

Now Tonic water, is a good way to go, also, take about 1 to 2 cups before bed, there is a property in the tonic water that helps with leg cramps.

Note:If you brush your teeth after drinking tonic water at night, it will help with the promotion of tooth decay from the carbonation in the water.

Nutritional Supplements

Take b-complex, folic acid, vitamin e, iron, magnesium. Mostly found in a good multi-vitamin!

Lastly--Take coffee off the menu! Coffee is a stimulant, and can add to the problems with leg cramp and restless leg syndrome.
