Natural Cures: MIGRAINES!!!

Suffering from migraines???????

There are an assortment of very effective herbs that can be used to help alleviate those stubborn and painful migraines.
One such is lavender, it works as a sedative, with an antispasmodic effect.
Drink a mix of lavender flower and vervain ( 30 g herb to 500 ml water) in half cup doses.
Dilute 10 drops of lavender oil into 25 ml carrier oil and massage into the temples at the first sign of the symptoms. Then drink the mix of the lavender flower and vervain after the massage.

This will take away that nasty migraine with no harm full or addictive medication. You always must use precautions when taking herbs and mixes.

Know your allergys because you could be allergic, and if pregnant, don't use in high doses.
Have a great migraine free day!

IS THE DOCTOR ALWAYS RIGHT? by Cher

IS THE DOCTOR ALWAYS RIGHT?

I have been to the doctor on many occasions for various reasons, as most of us have.

I have had decent doctors and others who should just turn in their licence's.

It is always good to seek medical opinions before using a herbal remedy, I think in allot of occasions the best way to go is straight from the doctors office to a naturopath, chiropractor, acupuncturist , or sometimes, just a good massage therapist.

I will give an example of just such an occasion for me:

I was off to work one morning, stepped out the front door and slipped right down the stairs.

Pain is a word which least described what I felt. I was hurt yes, but I figured I was probably just bruised. So I left it a couple of days, knowing I didn't break anything. The pain got worse and I was feeling horrible, crying in pain, and knowing I had to see a doctor I called to book an appointment.

Of course , my doctors office has a special type of rule, you can only book 2 days in advance and this doctor really shuns walk ins, so I called to book, no dice, I couldn't get in, would have to call back the next day to book for 2 days down the road. I was in pain!

I called the docs office straight through, and got the nurse who reluctantly let me come down that day.

Crying in the office, because I was in such pain, my daughter sitting beside me, I told the doctor of what happened , so he could understand the situation. He flat out told me, I couldn't be in as much pain as I was, crying was over the top according to him, and there was no way I could have injured myself in the manner of which I described. Then he wrote a prescription for pain killers and sent me on my way.

First off, the rudeness was uncalled for, he didn't diagnose me correctly and I left with a stupid script for pill of which I couldn't take anyway, and I had told him so, he ignored me.

I left there, went straight to a chiropractors office, and the doctor had my pain down to a minimum, told me of stretches I could do to help , and suggested I see a physio therapist as I had hurt the muscle and ligaments.

Within 3 days of seeing the chiropractor , my pain was totally gone and I was on my way to mending.

This experience was just one of many I've had with this doctor, I am not suggesting anyone not see a doctor first, but have the brains to know when something is just not right, and seek another opinion.

I hope all your days are pain free, and hassle free!

Natural Cures by Cher-Liquorice

Liquorice Root

Liquorice, Glycyrrhiza glabra, is a purple and white flowering perennial, native of the Mediterranean region and central and southwest Asia. It is cultivated
for the sweet taproot that grows to a depth of four feet (1.2 m).

At all times, liquorice was used less as a spice than as a medicine. Its use against the diseases of the upper respiratory tract dates back to ancient Egypt. The main part of the plant used in medicine is the root. This root is a gentle relaxant, soothing to mucous irritations, and most like its sweet taste and it masks the sharpness / pungency / taste of other remedies.
Ayurevda
recommends the root as beneficial in the treatment of coughs, colds, and other bronchial irritations. The root may be chewed as throat lozenges; or prepared as infusions by removing the outer bark and boiling for several minutes, to relieve hoarseness and coughs. It is popular among singers as a lozenge.

Liquorice is a good overall help/cure for the common cough/cold, give it a try its cheaper than a cold medicine and hasn't any side effects.

Natural Cures-Ginseng

Natural Cures----Ginseng

I'm sure by now all of you out there, or at least most of you have heard about Ginseng. Mostly marketed as a memory enhancer. It does other good things as well, but how do we use it?
Ginseng is one of the most famous of the Chinese herbal remedies, and has been claimed to be a cure-all. It has increased in popularity in the western cultures quite recently, but most people aren't using it correctly.
First off, Ginseng is helpful for combating exhaustion and difficulties in concentrating. Ginseng tonic, is sometimes taken to boost the immune function and the herb also helps to speed recovery after an illness, and help to lift mood and help fight mild depression.

How to use it:
It comes in many forms, the purest being the plant or root itself, but you can buy it in caplets and pill form over the counter at just about any pharmacy. I do recommend that you look for the purest version, try a health food store.
There are 2 main varieties of ginseng, whit and red. Only the root is used for healing purposes. White ginseng is simply the peeled , dried, bleached root. The more costly red ginseng is gotten by treating the freshly harvested roots with steam, then drying them slowly in the sun.

Now you can make Ginseng Tea, Tonic, in a bath, as a nutritional supplement.
For the Tea:
Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 tsp. of grated ginseng. Steep for 10 min. then strain. The tea helps to sharpen concentration even in elderly people.

Tonic: Take 20-30 drops of ginseng tonic (sold in health-food stores) daily. It may prevent heart disease and can also raise low blood pressure.

Bath: Simply add grated ginseng root to your evening bath. Sit down deeply into the water and this will help you to relax after a long day, and sleep better than ever.

Nutritional Supplement: Save your money, use the root, grate it and add it to foods it's just as effective as taking a supplement. If you cannot find the root, buy the supplement and take it daily.

Ginseng is native to Korea and parts of China. It is only rarely found growing in the wild, but is widely cultivated in much of Asia.

Try Ginseng, it can do wonders for your brain and body!

Natural Cures: Heartburn

HEARTBURN
The pain of heartburn is nothing to burp at. Anyone who has had it knows how awful it feels and how difficult it can be to get rid of. There are many treatments on the market, in a drug store, corner store, just about anywhere, you'll find ant-acids.
I have a simple method for you, now it's not for chronic acid reflux disease or recurrent heartburn..
It is for the simple, damn I ate to much, or my goodness that was spicy, or grandma's made with lard cookies treatment.
It is simply baking soda! Yes I said Baking Soda!
You put some into a glass, usually a couple of tea spoons full, mix with water, enough to get it down without it being a paste and drink it.
You must follow it though with a tall glass of warm water, this will help the baking soda to work, then wait about 5 min. You should start to burp about now. Please follow with a couple of more glasses of water, be it cold warm doesn't matter, the more water, the better for your system. Repeat if the heartburn doesn't go away, give it at least 20 min.
If the heartburn is strong at the time, just add more baking soda than the 2 tea spoons at the start.
This works so well, you'll be heartburn free, until the next omg meal!
Best thing though, eat well, not too much and you won't need this treatment at all,
but you know we all do it then and again..........
Here's to the best burp you have ever had ahhhhh!
